A presentation given by Chairman Fiona Boismaison showcased all the hard work undertaken by the volunteers across the town which led to this year’s Gold award in the North West In Bloom Competition. She illustrated the work done by Fylde Borough Council and volunteers in creating floral displays in St Anne’s which led to the displays being awarded the ‘Kieran Moss Award’ for the Best Floral Displays in the North West by the RHS.

“This is a fantastic achievement and well deserved. I know how much care is taken in designing and planting and how much it upsets staff and volunteers if for some reason they get damaged. “

The ten community groups who were entered the ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood Award’ competition were celebrated. One of this year’s highlights goes to Shepherd Rd Allotment Society who, not only were given Outstanding for the fourth year running but also the ‘Gateway Community Award’.

Indeed the RHS judges were so impressed with the society that they won the ‘Helen Home Trust Award’ for the best overall ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood Award’ entry in the whole of the North West.

“It’s a real bonus to our town for one of our entrants in the competition to be given the best in the North West. Well done Shepherd Rd Allotments!”
