Free Stone Carving Workshop

Free Stone Carving workshops with artist Anthony Lysycia at the Peace and Happiness Garden (Les Dawson Garden, next to the pier), St Anne’s on the Sea Monday 28th May (Bank Holiday) – Thursday 31st May   Sessions available througout each day but must be booked in advance please.

All welcome, including children (children must be over 10 years old and those under 16 must be accompanied by an adult). If you don’t want to go on the workshop, please feel free to drop by and see what’s going on.

Take part in interactive sandstone carving workshops with the aim of producing a piece for display in the Peace and Happiness Garden. Safety equipment and tools are provided with instruction and guidance. But please wear suitable clothing (clothes that can get dirty). Each workshop lasts approximately 1 hour.

This event has been organised by St Anne’s In Bloom in conjunction with Fylde Borough Council and STEP (St. Anne’s Enterprise Partnership) and the Tesco ‘Bags of Help’ scheme

Anthony Lysycia trained as a painter/printmaker in Lancashire before venturing to London in 1981 to study for his Masters degree at the Royal College of Art. When sculpting, Anthony combines his unique vision and insight to produce fascinating and distinctive works from a wide variety of different materials. His love of sculpture dates back to the very start of his career, when during his first year at the R.C.A. he found a small piece of abandoned Portland stone and, after carrying it to the college studio, promptly carved, exhibited and sold his first sculpture. Fast forward to the present and Anthony now works on huge blocks of stone weighing up to several tons. More information on Anthony Lysycia is available on

Workshops have been scheduled for the following times:

Monday to Thursday   –   9.30,  10.45, 13.15,  14.15,  15.15  and  16.15

If you prefer to just turn up, then please do, but places will be subject to availability

There are up to 5 places on each workshop and workshops will be allocated on a first come basis, but if the workshop of your choice is fully booked, we will e-mail you with alternatives.
