Christmas Trees 2017

This years Christmas Tree planting has been a great success.

This is the first year that the scheme has been organised by St Anne’s in Bloom and we were able to collect over 400 Christmas trees during January thanks to our wonderful volunteers.

Together with the trees from the council drop-off points we had around 2000 trees which will really help rejuvenate the sand dunes and protect our coastline.

Once the trees had all been collected we had to wait for favourable tide times and then joined with Fylde Borough Council, Lancashire Wildlife Trust and other volunteers to get them dug in.

Around 35 volunteers and council staff helped get the Christmas trees ‘planted’ along the edge of the dunes. This took place over 3 days and we all had a great time. Luckily the weather was nice and the refreshments provided were very welcome!

As you can see, all the hard work is beginning to show results.
